Riffyn's new Authentication provider - Okta

As part of the 2.1 release of Riffyn, identity management will be provided by a third-party provider, Okta.

Why use a third party to manage user accounts and access to Riffyn?

It helps Riffyn to conform to regulatory and compliance policies around password policy, account management, single sign-on and multi-factor authentication. It will also allow our customers to use the same credentials to log into different Riffyn environments e.g. app.riffyn.com and mycompany.riffyn.com 

Logging into Riffyn

First access to Riffyn for new users

If you are a new Riffyn user you will receive a welcome email to guide you through the account setup process. The email will contain an activation link that will allow for configuration of the account on Okta and some further links to Riffyn tutorials and other help content.

After successfully entering your account information you will be redirected to your Riffyn environment.

First access after 2.1 deployment for existing users

The first time you attempt to log in to your Riffyn environment after deployment of version 2.1 you will be temporarily redirected to an Okta user account page (you will also receive an email in advance with a link to activate the account).

From here you will be asked to follow a number of steps to set up your account:

  1. Create a new password
  2. Choose a recovery question

After successfully entering your account information you will be redirected back to your Riffyn environment.

Subsequent access to Riffyn

To access Riffyn after your initial Okta account setup:

  1. Go to your environment home page e.g. https://mycompany.riffyn.com/sign-inThis will shown the new Okta login page.
  2. Enter your login credentials, if successful you will be redirected to your Riffyn environment.

You can login to different Riffyn environments using a single account, but you still have to sign up for each Riffyn environment separately. If you have access to multiple Riffyn environments, please start your login process from the login page of the environment that you want to access. 

Your account will lock after 10 unsuccessful login attempts. Please contact support@riffyn.com to unlock your account.

Change your password

If you want to change your password, follow the instructions below for "Forgot your password." This will send you a password reset link by email, which you can use to enter a new password.

Change your email address

Currently you cannot change the email address associated with your account. If this becomes necessary for you, please email us at support@riffyn.com.

Forgot your password

If you have forgotten your password you can request that a password reset email be sent to you by clicking the "Forgot Password" option after clicking the "Need help signing in?" link.

The "Forgot Password" option will always return a success screen when an email address is entered. No action is taken (no reset password email is sent) if the email entered is not associated with a Riffyn user account. This is to prevent attackers from phishing Riffyn user emails.

The email will contain a password reset link that will allow you to set your password in Okta.

Click on the "Reset Password" button in the email. The password reset page will require you to answer your security question before proceeding to reset password.

After successfully entering your account information you will be redirected back to your Riffyn environment.

Self-registering for a Riffyn account

If you company supports self registration, you can go to https://mycompany.riffyn.com/sign-up to request a new account. Afterwards you will be emailed an email link through which you can complete your account registration.
